Two bikini lifestyle destinations team up to bring you premium comfort service in their new flights between Los Angeles and Sydney, Australia. American Airlines and Qantas Airways  expand their joint business by providing new service between the United States and Australia. American will offer new daily, nonstop flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Sydney Airport (SYD) with its flagship Boeing 777-300ER, pending regulatory approvals.

“Qantas has been a fantastic partner through oneworld® and our joint business relationship, and strengthening those ties has provided us with a solid foundation to introduce American-operated flights into the Australian region,” said Doug Parker, chairman and CEO of American Airlines. “Our customers have asked us to broaden our reach to important business destinations across the Pacific, and flying our flagship aircraft, the Boeing 777-300ER, to Sydney, will provide another world-class travel experience from our key gateway at LAX.”

American’s new service between LAX and SYD will be operated by the state-of-the-art, three-class Boeing 777-300ER with best-in-class premium customer offerings. The aircraft’s products and services feature all-aisle access, fully lie-flat seats and a walk-up bar in the premium cabins; Main Cabin Extra seating provides more legroom; and all seats feature personal, in-seat entertainment screens with up to 250 movies, over 180 TV programs and more than 350 audio selections, international Wi-Fi capability, and universal AC power outlets and USB ports.

As the world’s largest airline, American continues its investment in Los Angeles by enhancing its international reach. This development represents the natural evolution of the alliance between American and Qantas with revenue sharing and other agreements that provide the carriers with a platform for further growth, closer commercial ties, and an even more seamless customer experience on routes between North America and Australia/New Zealand.

“Adding Sydney further strengthens LAX as American’s trans-Pacific gateway and gives our customers direct access to another one of the world’s great cities,” said J.C. Liscano, American’s managing director of its LAX hub. “American is the industry leader when it comes to offering an exclusive travel experience in LAX with Flagship Check-In, Five Star service, and our Flagship Lounge. Partnering with Qantas will give our customers even more access to tremendous personal service.”

Through their joint business, Qantas and American provide increased connectivity to destinations beyond their key gateways. Customers traveling from North America have access to nearly 60 additional destinations throughout Australia and New Zealand when connecting from Qantas’ trans-Pacific routes from Sydney.

Customers traveling from Australia can access more than 150 destinations throughout North America on American’s extensive network from LAX, SFO and Dallas/Fort Worth. This includes transcontinental service to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) from LAX and SFO on the only true three-class aircraft on those routes, the Airbus A321T.

In early 2016, Qantas will begin operating service six times per week between SYD and San Francisco International Airport (SFO), adding another key destination for business and leisure customers with more options when traveling across the Pacific.

American Airlines at LAX

American has served Greater Los Angeles for more than 80 years. With nearly 200 daily departures operated by the youngest fleet among global network carriers in the U.S. and unmatched premium services on the ground, American has a rich history as the premier airline at LAX with the most domestic and international destinations.

The Youngest Fleet with the Most Premium Offerings

In December 2014, American announced an investment of more than $2 billion in the customer experience. These investments include more fully lie-flat seats; upgraded aircraft interiors; more international Wi-Fi; more in-flight entertainment options and charging power for customers in all cabins; and an improved airport experience with faster, more reliable kiosks and refreshed gate and ticketing areas. This is all in addition to American’s historic fleet renewal, during which it expects to take delivery of 75 new mainline aircraft in 2015. American is adding new aircraft on routes which cater to a wide breadth of industries–entertainment, energy, technology, manufacturing, banking and finance, among others–to best meet the flying needs of the second largest air travel market in the U.S.
