Salvage Bar & Lounge, downtown’s thought-provoking new nightlife destination makes its grand debut September 14 in the heart of the 7th Street Corridor. Located on the ground level of the 1926 landmark building now known as The Roosevelt Residences, Salvage’s interior elements creatively intertwine modern design while using fixtures and materials left behind from the historic building’s original construction.
The 2,200 square foot space has been transformed by Nocturnal Entertainment Group into an extraordinary bar & lounge using once discarded materials, which have been painstakingly refurbished and reclaimed in an eco-friendly manner. “It is unbelievable that so much beauty and character could just be thrown away. We are extremely proud of what we were able to do with the building remnants, the space is truly extraordinary,” notes NEG principal Homan Taghdiri.
An expansive bar constructed from a magnificent brass door, vintage panels and stained glass greets patrons at the entrance. Adjacent, a spectacular burned-out wall fresco commissioned by NEG principal and designer Solomon Mansoor, reveals a scene-setting aged and exposed brick interior wall. Distressed leather remnants make up ample booth seating flanked by tables made of vintage elevator friezes and 1920’s-era Cararra marble slabs. Additionally, the atmospheric back lounge features distinctive modular seating made of vintage fabrics, elevator grids and original wall panels.
A chateau-like patio opens to the bustling pedestrian street, and is highlighted by original plaster and stucco carefully carved out to reveal rustic brick. Adding fantastic mood and originality to Salvage is a spectacular and whimsical lighting system designed by Mansoor. Used throughout the space, it features Louche Lighting and NOS crystal glass.
Behind the bar, experienced bar tenders will be serving specialty cocktails featuring organic juices and spirits like the Sangria Sensation; organic Veev Acai Liquor, wine and fresh squeezed juices and the Organic Margarita made with organic 4 Copas Tequila. Accompanying a wide array of cocktails, spirits, wine and beer is a menu of small plates including items like Jalepeno Poppers, Tuna Tartar and Popcorn Shrimp. Items start at just $4.00.
NEG saw the discarded remains from the recently redeveloped property as a chance to create something completely original, unconventional and sustainable. NEG principal Justin Yashouafar comments “Solomon’s vision of being able to take otherwise abandoned remnants, and transform them into functional beauty, is amazing.” Homan Taghdiri adds, “as the designer, Solomon recognized the ravaged building pieces as a treasure trove of beauty and history, and brought them together in a cohesive manner to create a stunning and distinctive design concept.” Combined with Mansoor’s eye for stylish décor, the end result is a fascinating, serene, and inspiring atmosphere.
